Out of Hours and Emergency Dental Treatment

If you have a regular NHS dentist and need urgent treatment, contact your dentist for advice.

If you do not have a regular NHS dentist, you can contact NHS 111. They can give you details of out-of-hours dental services in your area.

You could also see if there are any urgent care services near you that provide emergency dental treatment.

Out-of-hours dental care

If you have a problem outside normal practice hours or you're in pain, you can first try helping yourself by taking painkillers. If you feel the problem can wait until normal practice hours, you can call NHS 111 for self care advice.

Emergency dental care

If your problem is more urgent, you can access out-of-hours dental services in your area by calling:
your dentist, who should have an answerphone message with details of how to access treatment out of hours

NHS 111

Go to the accident and emergency (A&E) department of your local hospital if you:

  • are in severe pain that is not helped by painkillers
  • are bleeding a lot and it won't stop
  • trauma of the face, mouth or teeth after a recent accident or injury
NHS out-of-hours or emergency dental care

NHS dental care is available in an emergency if it is clinically necessary, whether or not you have a regular dentist.

HM Forces Railcard For Personnel & Spouses

The HM Forces Railcard costs £15 and it'll save you 1/3 on most rail fares throughout Great Britain for a whole year. That works out to under £2 a month for huge savings. You're eligible if you're a member of the Regular Forces or a spouse of a member, for more details see eligibility.

There are plenty of ways you can use your Railcard, for both long and short trips. Better still you can use it anytime on weekends, Public Holidays and during the week. The only restriction is that if you travel before 10am Monday to Friday (except during July and August) a minimum fare will apply. For more details see minimum fares.

Your HM Forces Railcard will save you 1/3 on many tickets. As with most things in life, there are some exceptions, so take a look at the ticket types you can and can't make savings on with your HM Forces Railcard. see website for further details

CarillionAmey: Service Families Accommodation - How to Make a Complaint

Both CarillionAmey and DIO Service Delivery Accommodation have a strong customer focus to provide the best service we can to service personnel and their families. However, sometimes things go wrong so below is some useful advice and guidance on what you need to do if you wish to make a complaint, and what the correct procedure is.
Whatever the problem, we will endeavour to sort it out as quickly as possible. We value your feedback and monitor complaints to help us focus on improving our service in those areas.

How to make a complaint

Complaints are handled in 3 stages, with the aim of making sure that the majority can be fully investigated and promptly put right. If you are dissatisfied by the response at any stage, you will be given the opportunity to go to the next stage.

Stage 1

If you are dissatisfied with our service please call the CarillionAmey Helpdesk on 0800 707 6000 or visit the CarillionAmey website.
Once you have registered a complaint, a CarillionAmey customer care manager will contact you, and give you a reference number for your complaint. They will explain how the process works and keep you regularly updated on the progress of your complaint.
If you are not satisfied with the way the complaint is handled or you want to speak to someone more senior, you can speak to a senior manager at the Helpdesk or a CarillionAmey director.

Stage 2

If your complaint has been closed at stage 1 and you are not satisfied with the response, you can then escalate your complaint to the DIO Customer Services Team.
You should briefly set out your complaint and why you are not satisfied with the Stage 1 response in writing to:
Customer Service Team,
DIO Service Delivery Accommodation,
Ground Floor,
Swales Pavilion,
RAF Wyton,
PE28 2EA.

If you make a written complaint we will acknowledge it within 3 working days. An investigation will be carried out but depending on the nature of the complaint, this can take some time.

Combat Stress: Support for the Military Community

There is often a large delay between Veterans leaving the military and seeking our help. In 1994 the average delay seeking help for Service-related mental health conditions was 24 years. By 2014 this had reduced to 12 years.

Through our work, and that of the military chain of command and other mental health charities, we are breaking down the stigma around mental illness, leading to more Veterans feeling able to come forward.

For 96 years we’ve been here for the military community and we will be for decades to come. If you or a member of your family served in the UK Armed Forces and need to talk about mental health, please call our 24-hour Helpline on 0800 138 1619.
