It’s Armed Forces Day on Saturday 24 June, so to show our support for all our fantastic military personnel, Toby Carvery will be serving free carvery dinners to members of the British Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force.
If this includes you, or someone you know, simply get your voucher and show it when you order a roast or alternative main meal on 24 June, along with military ID or a Defence Privilege Card*.

    For military personnel who can’t attend, your local Toby Carvery will be hosting a Veterans Breakfast Club all week from Monday 19th June until Friday 23 June, where former and current members of the Armed Forces enjoy breakfast for just £1 when booked in advance. Veterans' Gateway

There is a huge network of organisations supporting the Armed Forces community, so finding the right one for your needs can be tricky.
The Veterans Gateway makes it quick and easy by being your first point of contact for whatever support you need, whether you are based in the UK or abroad.
Veterans’ Gateway is made up of a consortium of organisations and Armed Forces charities, including The Royal British Legion, SSAFA – the Armed Forces charity, Poppyscotland, Combat Stress and Connect Assist.

Family Breaks that may apply to you

SSAFA Breaks -
SSAFA have short activity breaks in the UK that are free to service families. They are for young people with an additional need/disability and their siblings. Additionally they offer a free break to young carers.

Familiy Activity Breaks (FAB) -
If you have a child up to the age of 19, who has suffered a bereavement of a serving loved one, then FAB breaks maybe for you. The breaks are for the family.

Holidays for Heroes
Holidays4Heroes provide short breaks for wounded personnel, their families and the bereaved. Holidays 4 Heroes is not a charity, we are a non profit community support group.

Calvert Trust
The Calvert Trust has three centres which offer activity holidays, they welcome applications from Armed Forces Families through 'Uniting Service Families with disabilities' bursary scheme.

Poppy Pods - if you enjoy the outdoors why not enjoy this fantastic facility? Tile Barn Outdoor Centre-Brockenhurst

We would like to introduce the Poppy Pod Village that is our legacy to Armed Service personnel. These Pods are here in perpetuity to recognise and remember the sacrifices made and faced by the Armed Forces Community.
The wooden camping Pods are sustainable and environmentally friendly with solar panels.  The Pods provide residential holiday/respite facilities for service personnel, veterans and their families. The Pod Village has been designed with accessibility in mind, please see the access page for full details.
This project has been made possible with the help of the Armed Forces Community Covenant, the Royal British Legion Brockenhurst Branch and Hampshire County Council.
Ex military and current serving military can use for free at weekends (max 2 nights) and school holidays (max 4 nights).
  • School holiday dates are based on Hampshire School holidays only
  • Arrival time 4pm, departure time 10am
  • Bring up to 7 immediate family members (maximum)


Adventurous activities will be running during your stay every Saturday morning (for weekend bookings) and Tuesday/Thursday mornings (for week bookings). The activities available can be seen in the table below, please be aware that charges apply. These can be booked in advance or on arrival by speaking to a member of staff and paying in full. A medical form will need to be completed for each participant. Activities are subject to change or be cancelled if the centre is busy with other bookings.
  • Young Person’s Medical and consent form
  • Adult Medical Form

In a brand new series of The Military Tech Show, we explore the latest and most exciting developments in defence and security technology.  During the next six episodes highlights include rare access to the German Aerospace Centre outside Munich where scientists are using radar for detecting land mines; an exclusive behind the scenes look at the work of NATO’s Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation in La Spezia, Italy, where researchers are helping to keep the world’s shipping lanes safe for global trade; we’re on board the RAF’s ground-breaking, multi-role aircraft as it refuels a squadron of  Typhoon fighter jets; the Italian textile manufacturer who’s kitting out British special forces using a revolutionary new form of wool; and we report on the key exercise in Scotland for testing unmanned water, surface and airborne vehicles.
